• Championship Senior 2012

The Senior Team were managed by Adrian Brennan, Josie Gallagher, Stephen Gildea and trained by Declan Gallagher.  This year for the first time they took part in the Ulster Club Senior Football League.  They competed in Group B with Ardboe, Magherafelt, Ballinderry, Donaghmore and the Glen.  It was a good exercise to get the Team prepared for the League campaign and also to play teams from other Counties.  They beat Ardboe at home, drew with Magherafelt away and lost to Ballinderry away 1.10 to 1.08 in which was a great competitive game.  They finished mid Group but needed to won the Group in order to qualify for the Semi-Finals.

They competed in the All County League having a great start winning their first three games Glenswilly away and Four Masters and Gaoth Dobhair at home.  They then suffered two defeats on a double weekend Fixture home to N Conaill and away to Kiclar.  They then went through a bad patch and suffered five defeats in the space of seven weeks but resurrected themselves with a good away victory over St Michaels on Sunday 12th August and showed great grit and determination for the jersey as was the away game to N Conaill but still were not out of the woods as far as the relegation was concerned.  It was the match against Dungloe at home that would secure them Division 1 Status for the coming year and that was not played until 2nd November a mere two months after their last League game.  Their last game against St Eunans mattered not was played on Sat 17th November which saw them finishing on 18 points in the League winning nine and losing seven.  Great credit is due to management and the Players for their commitment and dedication all year to secure Division 1 status for the 2013.

In the Championship they drew Four Masters and from the very beginning this was always going to be a tough battle.  The first leg played at home saw victory for Masters 9 points to seven.  The return leg in Donegal Town the following week saw a more spirited Ardara side take the game to a playoff winning by a single point 0.11 to 1.07.  The playoff played under lights in McCumhaill Park midweek did not auger well for us and ended our Championship hopes with Four Masters advancing to the quarter final on a score of 0.12 to 0.05.
